I can hardly believe I need to be on a plane for Washington in just 10 days for Sage Summit 2013!  The excitement isLindaCade starting to be tangible!  Ah, but now it’s time for the list … just so I don’t forget anything vital.  Maybe you’re a list maker as well. I’m not normally, but when it’s important … it never hurts to write it down.  As I was thinking about the list it came to me that maybe I should share some thoughts and save you the trouble.  So here are my top 10 in no particular order:

  1. Comfortable walking shoes – Hopefully you are staying at the Gaylord National Harbor or at least one of the hotels that are close. Nonetheless, with all that’s going on during the conference with key note addresses, break-out sessions, Sage City, and the Expo … not to mention the special events … you will need those walking shoes.
  2. Evening attire – Speaking of special events, there is something going on almost every evening.  There are meet and greets, a Party on the Potomac (Partners only), partner sponsored events, a Night at the American History Museum (Customers), and so much more … So, break out your dancing shoes and plan to have a good time!
  3. Comfort Aids – For some of us (and you know who you are), we may need a little help the morning after.  So don’t forget your analgesic of choice and your tummy medicine.  And while you’re at it, why not throw in some hand lotion (Yes, they sell samples small enough to pass the TSA inspection).  You’ll be meeting a lot of new friends and old and you don’t want your hands to get chapped now.
  4. A Smile – Everybody loves a good smile.  And even if you have nothing to smile about, do it anyway! It will make people wonder what you’re up to.
  5. Contact Information – You just might want to keep up with those new friends, and how will they find you?  So be sure to bring along your Twitter handle, or your LinkedIn profile name, or an email address, or maybe just some old fashioned business cards to share and trade.
  6. Mobile Device(s) – And speaking of staying in touch, you will want to bring your cell phone or your tablet or maybe both and be sure to follow the suitcase Social Team @Sage_Summit .   Oh yeah, and don’t forget your charger!
  7. Questions – Maybe you have questions about how others are using Sage solutions to grow their business or achieve a new kind of success.  Pack them up and bring them with you.  The Sage City event is a perfect opportunity to network with others in your industry, using the same solution you use and maybe in a way you never imagined.
  8. Ideas – On the other hand, you may be using a Sage solution in your business to solve a unique business need and thinking that no one else has ever come across that particular set of circumstances.  You might be surprised!  Come prepared to share your success and your ideas with your peers.  You never know what could happen.  Want to know more about Sage City?  Visit our YouTube channel and see for yourself what a meeting of the minds can produce.
  9. Note Taking Device – Whether you’re an old school notebook and pen kind of person like me, or a technology geek like my granddaughter who uses her mobile phone to take down take-out orders … you’ll want to bring a note taking device to keep track of all the really great information shared in the break-out sessions, roundtables, hands-on labs, or brand-new Idea Xchange Sessions available this year.  There are multiple tracks for various levels of expertise … one or more that are bound to be just right for you.
  10. Extra bags – And last but not least, you might need an extra bag or two to bring home all the goodies you can collect.  Ok, so maybe you’re not into paying for an extra bag on the plane.  A virtual bag could be just as good.  However you collect your goodies, you won’t want to miss the Sage Marketplace Live Expo.  No matter what your business is, no matter what your interest, no matter what your need — there are exhibitors at the Expo eager to show you in a hands-on environment the benefits of their solution and how it can benefit you.

Okay, we’re all packed.  So, let’s load up the taxi and head for the airport!  See you there!
